Open access to Colonial Archive Documents and Historical Publications on the EHM website

The EHM project is pleased to announce that an extensive collection of British Colonial Office digitally archived documents, amounting to more than 1.4 million pages, has been acquired from Cengage Gale–sourced from The National Archives, Kew Gardens, United Kingdom.

These records, which offer deep insights and understanding of multiple aspects of the development of British colonialism on the territories that eventually came together as Malaya/Malaysia, will be available for viewing and downloading from June 2025 on request by authorized users for non-commercial purposes.

From the same time, the EHM project will make available an extensive collection of British colonial archived reports and books, curated from Sultan Nazrin Shah’s personal repository, for viewing by interested researchers.

This collection offers an unparallel perspective on the social, economic, and administrative aspects of the Straits Settlements, the Federated Malay States, and the Unfederated Malaya States, as well as North Borneo (Sabah) and Sarawak, as these territories developed.
